Preface
pg.1

By choosing a Virtual Server System from RSH Web Services, you have chosen the fastest, most powerful, and best-supported Internet server technology available. We thank you for making this choice, and look forward to serving your Internet server needs well into the future.

About This Guide
This guide is your key to unlocking the power of your Virtual Server. It covers the basic functions of your Virtual Server system, and will point you in the right direction when you’re ready for more advanced system use. It includes tutorials to help get you started, and also serves as a handy reference for future use.
Whether you read this guide straight through or just go to the particular section that interests you, we recommend that you read at least the first chapter to familiarize yourself with your Virtual Server before you start using the system.
New terms are defined in the Terms and Definitions sections. If you can’t find a definition in the Terms and Definitions section of the chapter you’re in, check the glossary at the end of this guide.

Conventions Used in This Guide
The following conventions are used throughout this guide:
Blue is used in examples to indicate user input.
The use of certain keys on your keyboard are indicated in Italic with an initial capital letter.
For example, when you see Enter, it means to press the “Enter” key on your keyboard. Ctrl+X would mean that you should hold down the “Ctrl” key while pressing the “X” key. Ctrl+X, Y means hold down the “Ctrl” key while pressing the “X,” key, then release both keys and press the “Y” key.

Entering Commands
Throughout this guide, we have indicated many commands like this:
mkdir dirname
This example shows the use of the mkdir command to create a directory. Whenever you are required to enter commands into your Virtual Server, the input is denoted by blue type. The input itself should be typed exactly as shown. Dirname is shown in italics to indicate that you should replace dirname with the actual name of the directory that you wish to create.
Unlike some operating systems, such as DOS and Windows, UNIX commands (the commands your Virtual Server responds to) are case sensitive. Therefore, the words “MORE,” “more,” and “More” are three very different instructions, and your Virtual Server will act differently depending on which word you type.
